BUTTERMILK DROP BISCUITS

This is a no mess recipe guaranteed to deliver buttery, flaky richness in

every bite. There's no cutting butter or rolling out dough. Simply

scoop and bake.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups     all--purpose flour

  • 2 tsp.      baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp   baking soda

  • 2 tsp.      sugar

  • 1/2 tsp.  kosher salt

  • 1 cup      buttermilk, (cold)

  • 4 oz.      melted butter

  • 4 Tbsp.    additional, melted butter for brushing
                  *salt, for sprinkling on top

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F.


  2. Combine all dry ingredients in a bowl and mix together with a whisk.


  3. Measure 1 cup of buttermilk in a bowl and place in fridge.


  4. Melt butter so it is warm and allow to cool for few a minutes.


  5. Take out bowl of buttermilk and add melted butter while stirring gently. Allow it to sit and form clumps.This will give the                biscuits a better texture.


  6. Stir the buttermilk mixture and then add to the flour mixture with a spatula.


  7. Mix until all flour is incorporated but do not OVERMIX.


  8. Scoop onto parchment paper lined baking sheet using a 2oz. ice cream scooper (or 1/4cup). Space them 1 ½ inches apart. 


  9. Bake the biscuits until the tops are golden brown and crisp for 12-15 mins. depending on size. 


  10. Remove from the oven and brush with melted butter and season lightly with salt.
